Fire crews have tackled a large blaze that broke out at a row of terraced properties on a busy road in Worthing.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) said it was called to a house on Teville Road at 21:37 GMT on Thursday.

Seven fire engines attended the scene and an aerial ladder platform was used to help extinguish the flames.

No injuries have been reported, according to WSFRS.

Crews remained on the scene into the early hours

"Sussex Police were also in attendance and closed Teville Road to allow firefighters to work safely," said the spokesperson.

"Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and remained on scene into the early hours to dampen things down and ensure there were no further hot spots."

They added that the property was then inspected at 07:30 GMT on Friday and "no further signs of fire were found".
