Eight weeks of roadworks to begin in town

Work to repair damaged kerbs and resurface roads in Grimsby is to take eight weeks to complete when it begins next month.

North East Lincolnshire Council said improvements were needed to be made on a stretch of Armstrong Street and also Beeson Street.

The upgrades, which also includes repairing drainage and road markings, will be carried out in two stages with the first phase due to start on 10 March.

The council said the works were subject to change but warned residents of road closures and temporary traffic control measures.

The first phase of the scheme includes replacing damaged kerbs, realigning junctions and carrying out drainage work on both streets, which is expected to finish on 10 April.

Four days later, work will begin to resurface roads and is expected to be completed by 2 May.

The authority said on-street parking in some areas would be suspended, but have asked motorists not to park vehicles in areas where the roadworks were taking place.
