People are being invited to have their say on how Grimsby town centre should be developed between now and 2040.

North East Lincolnshire Council said the Grimsby Town Centre Masterplan, published in 2020, had helped secure millions of pounds in investment.

The current plan runs until 2030, and the authority is inviting residents, visitors and businesses to have their say on the next phase of "ambitious plans" to revitalise the town.

Views can be given online or at a series of events being held over the next few weeks.

The council said "significant progress" had already been made across the town centre, including the redevelopment of Freshney Place, Riverhead Square and St James's Square, and the opening of the Horizon Youth Zone.

It said work was progressing on a new transport hub and a 120-home housing development at Alexandra Dock.

As part of the next phase, the council said it wanted to hear views on how to "best connect and enhance" three distinct areas of the town centre: Riverhead and Garth Lane, St James and Freshney, and Alexandra Dockside.

Council leader Philip Jackson said: "We've made real progress over the past five years, thanks to the ideas and enthusiasm of local people. Now we want to continue that journey together.

"Your views are vital in helping us shape a town centre that works for everyone – somewhere to live, work, visit and enjoy."

An online consultation runs until Monday 6 April.
