A firm has refused to confirm how many jobs could be lost when it moves production of printer toner to France.

Shifting output to a site in Normandy from the Ricoh UK Products Limited plant in Telford, Shropshire, would take about 14 months and start in May, a spokesperson confirmed.

The Shropshire Star reported Telford's MP Shaun Davies stating the change could put "hundreds of jobs" at risk but the spokesperson claimed those numbers were "not accurate".

On its website, the Telford-based firm said it has more than 400 employees but they would not confirm to the BBC how many roles could be at risk.

"Consultation has not yet begun and it would not be appropriate to comment on specific site headcount ahead of that formal process," the spokesperson said.

"What we can say is that the proposed changes relate to only part of our Telford-based business."
