The woman and her dogs were "in good health and uninjured" after their close call, according to their rescuers

A woman and her four dogs had to be rescued after getting into difficulty on the East Yorkshire coast, rescuers have said.

The woman dialled 999 after becoming stranded while walking her dogs on the beach at Mappleton on Tuesday afternoon.

Volunteers from Hornsea Inshore Rescue found her "waist-deep" in water.

She had misread tide times, with the charity saying it was "a very easy mistake to make”.

Once back at the lifeboat station, the woman and her dogs were dried and warmed by shore crew.

On its social media pages, the charity said the dogs "received lots of tummy rubs and fusses".

Hornsea Inshore Rescue said the woman “did the right thing” by calling 999.
