Two of six men arrested after a man was stabbed in the leg have been released on police bail.

The 31-year-old man was taken to hospital where his condition was described as serious but stable following an attack on Hawthorn Crescent in Cosham, Portsmouth, on Thursday, shortly before 14:30 GMT.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said two men, aged 29 and 21, both from Portsmouth, who were arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness, had been bailed with conditions.

The force said four other men, three aged 18 and one 19, all arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remained in custody.

The 18-year-olds, two from Portsmouth and one from Southampton, were also arrested on suspicion of having a blade in a public place, and the 19-year-old, from Southampton, for possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Police have urged anyone in the area on Thursday between 13:00 and 15:00 who witnessed the attack or saw anyone behaving suspiciously, plus those with relevant CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, to come forward.
