Woman dies after crash on A96 in Aberdeenshire

A woman has died and three others were taken to hospital after a two-car crash in Aberdeenshire.

The incident - involving a grey Peugeot 208 and a blue Volkswagen Passat - happened on the A96 near Huntly at about 18:00 on Sunday.

The 53-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment for minor injuries.

The road was closed for about 10 hours after the crash. Police Scotland appealed for any witnesses to get in touch.
