A slip road was closed after a heavy goods vehicle overturned at a roundabout.

According to the traffic-monitoring site Inrix, the M1 southbound exit slip road was shut due to the vehicle flipping on to its side at junction 11a of the A5 Dunstable Northern Bypass in Bedfordshire at about 10:45 GMT.

Traffic camera pictures showed the vehicle lying in the road with a number of emergency service vehicles, including a fire engine and police cars, at the scene.

National Highways said extensive recovery and clean-up was required following a large diesel spillage before the road reopened at about 17:30.
