Motorway closes after car flips on its side

There were severe delays reported on a northbound motorway after a car flipped over and blocked the road.

National Highways said a collision took place at about 12:15 GMT on the A1(M) at the Hatfield tunnel, between junction three for St Albans and junction four for Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

The emergency services were sent to the scene of the crash.

The overturned car was removed and the road was reopened at about 14:00, the agency added.
