Man, 21, shot in 'targeted attack'

A 21-year-old man is in a critical but stable condition after being shot in a "targeted attack," police said.

Armed police were called to Higher Road in Urmston in Trafford, Greater Manchester, at 20:40 GMT on Friday.

Emergency services treated a man at the scene.

"We believe this to be a targeted attack with no wider threat to the public," Greater Manchester Ch Insp Darren Lomas said.

Lomas added: "There have been extra patrols in the area and this will continue through the weekend and into next week."
