Trader's Tiki Bar, in Altrincham, closes for a month following an order issued at Manchester Magistrates Court

A bar in Greater Manchester has been closed after a number of "shirtless, bloody fights and assaults on staff", a council has said.

Traders Tiki Bar, in Goose Green, Altrincham, has been given a month-long closure order after several violent altercations, including repeated instances of fighting, assaults on door staff and a woman allegedly being punched in the head.

Despite only being open three days a week, police logs showed the bar had the highest number of violence-related incidents of any licensed premises in Trafford.

Councillor Rose Thompson said the "safety of members of the public has been put at risk" at the bar, where standards were said to be "significantly below" those expected.

The premises had seen a pattern of violence, drug use and under-age patrons, with bloodied customers captured leaving on CCTV, Manchester Magistrates Court heard

Manchester Magistrates' Court granted the immediate, month-long closure order on Tuesday, said Trafford Council.

Following this, a planned council licensing committee meeting to review the venue's licence will be brought forward.

The local authority said the bar's closure comes after several incidents of violence in February, including a 17-year-old boy punching and kicking a man to the floor at 00:50 GMT on 14 February.

When the pair were removed from the bar the fighting is said to have continued in Goose Green until police arrived.

Trafford Council said the following night, door staff were assaulted by a group of men who had been kicked out of the venue following an altercation inside.

Magistrates heard the group then used a sandwich board from another bar as a weapon against the building and its staff.

Traders Tiki Bar's general manager was allegedly punched in the face during this incident.

Trafford Council said the group of bloodied and shirtless men continued their attack, throwing objects and punches towards the premises.

The local authority said it had been working with the bar's operators since 2024 to try to improve the situation, but to no avail.

The BBC has tried to contact the bar for comment.
