Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them

The police are investigating a possible link between two burglaries at commercial premises in Castlederg, County Tyrone.

The businesses in Carickdartans Road and Drumquin Road were entered between 02:40 and 03:00 GMT on Sunday.

Grinders, saws and mechanical spanners were among the items stolen from the yard at Carickdartans Road, while tools were taken from a van at the premises on Drumquin Road.

The police said both businesses had been significantly affected financially and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"In particular, we're keen to hear from anyone who has noticed any suspicious or unusual activity in recent days in the area," Sgt Lowry of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said.

The police believe a number of people were involved in the burglaries.

Lowry added: "Both burglaries have resulted in significant financial impact with the loss of tools and equipment. If you have information which can help identify who was involved in these incidents we would ask that you report it."
