Ferry services return to normal after crash
BBCWightlink ferry services have returned to normal after a crash caused disruption.
The company's sailings between Gunwharf in Portsmouth to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight were suspended on Tuesday after the vessel, St Clare, struck its berth at 08:00 GMT.
Passengers were left stranded onboard and the company said the "heavy berthing incident" at Gunwharf damaged port infrastructure as well as the ship.
The ferry firm said after carrying out overnight repairs it was pleased to confirm the return of its normal services.
Operations director Gavin Marshall told BBC Radio Solent he was sorry to customers who were affected and grateful for their patience.
He added there was "no indication that there was any kind of machinery or technical issue".
He said: "I've seen reports that state human error but really that's not a very helpful term, it's such a blanket term.
"There are so many factors involved, in terms of the layout of vessel, the level of training, distractions, all kinds of things that could come into play, so we'll have a thorough look at that internally."
He said they have conducted temporary repairs but there will be some follow-up work in due course.
