Police have traced a woman who helped the girl but still want to hear from two boys, thought to be teenagers, who intervened

Two men have been arrested in connection with the rape of a teenage girl in Reading.

The girl was approached by two men who tried to chat to her as she walked along Oxford Road near to Beresford Road on Saturday shortly after 22:00 GMT.

She was attacked after they walked her to Prince of Wales Avenue, between Elm Park Road and Albany Road.

Thames Valley Police said the arrested men, both 26 and from Reading, had been held on suspicion of rape and remain in police custody.

The force is still urging two boys, possibly teenagers, who stepped in and had an altercation with the attackers on Prince of Wales Avenue at about 22:25 to come forward.

A woman who helped the girl had got in touch, police added.
