Paramedic hurt as hospital-bound ambulance crashes
BBCA paramedic has been injured after an ambulance was in a crash with two cars in West Sussex while taking a patient to hospital.
South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) confirmed one of its ambulances was in a multi-vehicle collision at Pyecombe, near Brighton, on Thursday, shortly after 17:00 GMT.
Further ambulances went to the scene on the A273 and the patient was moved to another vehicle to continue their journey to hospital, a Secamb spokesman said.
He said he could not confirm whether the vehicle had its blue lights and sirens on at the time of the crash, and that would be part of an investigation by Secamb and Sussex Police.
"A female paramedic on board was injured and was taken to hospital for further checks," he said. "She has since been discharged."
No other injuries were reported.

Sussex Police said the crash involved two cars and an ambulance.
A VW Sharan was in collision with the back of a Suzuki Celerio before it crossed on to the opposite carriageway and collided with an ambulance, which was travelling in the opposite direction, a police spokeswoman said.
She confirmed police were investigating the crash and officers had spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene.
Anyone who saw what happened or has CCTV or dashcam footage of the crash is urged to contact police.
