RuPaul to perform at Brighton Pride
Getty ImagesIt has been announced that RuPaul will perform a DJ set at Brighton Pride in what will be the star's first time in the city.
On Brighton Pride's Instagram account the famous drag queen said: "I'm going to see you Saturday, August 1st, at Brighton Pride, my first time in Brighton."
A spokesperson from Brighton Pride said RuPaul was "a global icon, a queer pioneer, a true original".
"RuPaul, the force behind RuPaul's Drag Race and one of the most influential voices in LGBTQ+ culture, is hitting the main stage at Pride On The Park for the very first time for our 35th anniversary," they said.
Soul legend Diana Ross has been confirmed as the Sunday headline act and Raye is the Saturday headline act.
The award-winning singer-songwriter previously performed at Brighton Pride in 2018 and 2022.
Previous headliners for the festival have included Mariah Carey, Girls Aloud, Mika, the Black Eyed Peas, Steps, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears.
World Of Wonder/Guy LevyRuPaul's Drag Race, which sees drag queens compete to win the season, has been running since 2009 and the series have won more than 80 awards, including 29 Primetime Emmys.
RuPaul has received 14 individual Primetime Emmys and in 2017 was included in the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
The Drag Race franchise has had more than 20 spin-offs including series in the UK, Belgium, the Philippines, Brazil, Sweden and Thailand.
