Hunt to find owner of washed-up memorial bench
Windermere Lake CruisesA search is on to reunite a memorial bench with its owners after it washed up on the shore of a lake.
Windermere Lake Cruises said the bench, which has been inscribed with the words "in memory of Dennis Wall", had washed up near Waterhead Pier last month after Storm Amy hit Cumbria.
Jennifer Cormack, from the company, said her team had been trying for weeks to find Mr Wall's family and friends with no luck, so had decided to launch a social media campaign.
"We have found a Dennis Wall, but he's alive and kicking in Ulverston. Other than that, we have absolutely drawn a blank," she told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"So we're wondering if it's from someone from out of the area who loved coming to the lake."
Windermere Lake CruisesMs Cormack said a Facebook post about the bench had reached about 400,000 people, but still they had not found the bench's owner.
"We just have no idea which part of the lake it's come from," she said.
"We just want to find Dennis Wall's family and friends and get the bench back to them."
