Heritage sites across the Isle of Man are set to begin reopening their doors to visitors for the 2026 season on Friday.

The historic locations, managed by Manx National Heritage (MNH), welcome thousands of locals and tourists each year.

The sites vary from the world's largest working waterwheel, to a medieval castle.

Here is when and where you can explore the island's heritage.

The Great Laxey Wheel: Known as Lady Isabella, the Victorian landmark has a diameter of 72ft (22m) and is open daily between 09:30 and 16:30.

Grove Museum: The Victorian house and gardens in Ramsey is open Saturdays to Wednesday from midday to 16:00.

Peel Castle: Situated on St Patrick's Isle, the fortifications of the castle surround the ruins of a cathedral, church, chapels and cemeteries. The site is open daily between 11:00 and 16:30.

Cregneash: The folk village in the south of the island that captures life on the island in the 19th Century is open daily from 10:00 to 16:30.

Castle Rushen: Described as one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the British Isles, the site is open daily between 09:30 and 16:30.

Nautical Museum: Featuring Captain George Quayle's 18th Century private dock and boathouse, the museum is open Saturdays to Wednesdays between 12:00 and 16:00.

Pauline Wall of Manx National Heritage said the variety of sites meant there was "something for everyone" and helped people to explore the "stories, people and traditions that have shaped the Isle of Man".

She said the planned opening of new visitor hubs in Castletown and Laxey in the early summer would give both local people and visitors easier access to information about what the sites had to offer.

The island's seasonal sites will remain open until 1 November, while the Manx Museum in Douglas and the House of Manannan in Peel are open all year round.
