Key road to close while dangerous trees chopped down
GoogleMotorists have been warned about a forthcoming road closure while several large dead or diseased trees are chopped down.
Part of Sulby Straight, a main linking road between the north and west of the island, will shut between 09:00 and 16:00 GMT on Saturday, the island's Department of Infrastructure said.
The trees, beside St Stephens Meadow and opposite Sulby School and Sulby Methodist Chapel, were deemed at risk of falling during high winds.
Through traffic will be diverted via Clenagh Road, Sandygate Road and St Judes Road.
The usual vehicle weight limit on Clenagh Road will be suspended while the work takes place.
While the route through Sulby Claddagh will be available, drivers are advised to use the marked diversion via St Judes and Sandygate.
There is a five tonne weight limit on the Claddagh bridge, so all HGVs must use the diversion.
Residents of Sulby Straight, north of Sulby Primary School, will be able to access their homes via the Sulby Bridge.
