People are being warned not to pay fines sent to them by text claiming to be from a local authority.

Telford and Wrekin Council said people had been sent links telling them to pay the penalty charges.

It said it sends these notices by post or hands them over in person and would never send them by text.

People who have fallen victim to the fraudulent texts have been urged to contact the police and the National Cyber Security Centre.
