Homes evacuated as possible explosive device found

Homes were evacuated on Tuesday after police found a possible explosive device.

The West Mercia force said the item was discovered when officers attended a property on Saxon Court in Leegomery, Shropshire.

A 100m cordon was put in place and surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution while an explosives disposal team made a full assessment, police said on Tuesday evening.

People were asked to avoid the immediate area and police said more information would be provided in due course.
