Fire breaks out at Peaky Blinders mill again
Gazz HallA "deliberate" fire has been started at a derelict mill just six days after the last reported arson attack at the site.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) attended Dalton Mills in Keighley on Monday night.
A spokesperson said that 50% of the top floor was alight and that the incident was believed to be suspicious.
Firefighters also tackled a fire on the fourth and fifth floors of the mill on 18 February.
Gazz HallCrews were also called to a fire there last July, which also caused damage to the nearby Keighley Bus Museum.
A large part of the mill was destroyed in a major fire in 2022, leading to two teenage boys being arrested and charged with arson.
The Grade II-listed Victorian mill was used as a filming location for period dramas Peaky Blinders and Downton Abbey.
There have been numerous fires, most believed to be deliberate, since the 2022 blaze which destroyed a significant part of the complex.
In 2024 the Crown Estate took legal responsibility for the building under ancient property laws after the owner gave up his rights to it when he went bankrupt and a restoration project collapsed.
Bradford Council has previously said that the Crown Estate is aware of security concerns around the abandoned site, which has suffered from repeated trespass incidents.
The council said it was working with Historic England on additional security measures.
