A man has appeared in court accused of murdering his ex-partner who died of a neck wound.

Tania Williams, who was in her 40s, was pronounced dead when police were called to Catherine Gardens in Thorpe St Andrew, at about 23:45 GMT on Saturday.

Raymond Williams was arrested in Dereham Road on Sunday, and charged with her murder on Tuesday.

The 61-year-old, whose address was given as Catherine Gardens, spoke only to confirm his personal details when he appeared before Norwich magistrates. He was remanded in custody to appear before the crown court on Thursday.

Tania Williams was known for her "helpful and supportive attitude", City College said

City College Norwich has paid tribute to Williams, who was part of the site team at its Ipswich Road campus for about seven years.

"She played a key role in cross-college events such as our Saturday Open Days and her helpful and supportive attitude - coupled with a great range of different hair colourings - always made a positive impression on everyone she worked with," said Jerry White, its principal and chief executive.

"Our college community will remember her fondly and our thoughts are with her family at this time."

Colleagues were invited to contribute to a memory book which would be passed to her family, he added.
