The largest seed in the plant kingdom
In the Seychelles, the island of Praslin hosts a palm forest largely unchanged since prehistoric times. Dominating the landscape is the world's largest population of endemic coco de mer, a palm tree bearing the largest seed in the plant kingdom. Its peculiar, bodily shape has inspired legends and a rich mythology, involving walking trees, death, and aphrodisiac properties.
