Hit TV show hopes to boost LGBTQ representation in sport
A hit new TV show is creating optimism among fans and players that there will be more LGBTQ representation in ice hockey, having sparked conversations about the sport and sexuality.
Heated Rivalry is a romance series that follows rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Romanov as they embark on a secret relationship.
Welsh teams, including Cardiff Devils, have reported an increase in people coming to games for the first time since the show's UK release in January.
"It doesn't matter what you identify as, what your sexuality is, just be you – and that's all that really matters in our sport," said Ben Bowns, a goaltender for Cardiff Devils.
