Police use chainsaw to force door in £9m drugs bust
This is the moment police swooped on members of a drug gang following a covert investigation into the supply of heroin and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of almost £9m.
Six members of the gang were jailed at Cardiff Crown Court after admitting conspiracy to supply the class A drugs between October 2023 and 2024.
The court heard Zekkam Ali, 37, from Newport, was responsible for a drugs line that supplied customers with at least 38kg of heroin worth an estimated £3.16m and 55kg in crack cocaine valued at £5.5m.
Ali was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Operation Fairfax also identified those working for him, with five others given jail sentences of between five and 11 years each.
