'If Max Dowman can't beat my record, nobody will soon'
A former professional footballer who has held the record as the youngest goalscorer in the top flight of English football for 42 years says nobody is likely to knock him off his spot soon.
Jason Dozzell scored for Ipswich Town in the First Division in 1984, aged 16 years and 57 days old.
On Saturday, Max Dowman became the youngest goalscorer in the Premier League era, but aged 16 years and 73 days.
He netted with the final kick of the game in a 2-0 home victory over Everton.
Dozzell said Dowman, who is from Billericay in Essex, had impressed him more than any other player of that age.
