Warning of heavy rain and flood risk in North West - Met Office
Met OfficeA warning for heavy rain and a risk of flooding has been issued for parts of Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
The Met Office put out the yellow warning for the period between 18:00 GMT on Sunday and 06:00 GMT on New Year's Day.
It covers Bolton and parts of Tameside, Burnley, Blackburn and across to Blackpool on the Lancashire coast.
The Met Office said "flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible", along with likely travel disruption.
Poor weather has persisted over the Christmas holiday period and saw a tornado cause widespread damage to buildings in Stalybridge in Greater Manchester on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, hundreds of trains were being cancelled around the country due to staff shortages.
Northern Trains issued a do-not-travel notice for Sunday on links from Manchester Victoria to Stalybridge, Morecambe, and Heysham to Lancaster, Oxenholme to Windermere, Preston to Colne and Clitheroe to Bolton.
