A woman who had "GLP1" tattooed on her arm to celebrate the weight-loss jabs that transformed her life has said it sparked "a lot of conversations".

Sian Robinson from Worcester has been using slimming injection Mounjaro since November 2024, and so far lost 10 stone (63kg).

The registered nurse prescriber said losing weight had helped her mental and physical health, and the tattoo had encouraged others to share their own personal stories.

"I got [the tattoo] a couple of months ago now, just 'cause I genuinely think that it has saved my life," she said.

Robinson, who runs an aesthetics business, said she had tried to lose weight repeatedly, and begun to look into gastric surgery before research led her to the GLP-1 drug.

"I've had a fantastic experience," she said. "I've lost 10 stone 4lbs now.

"I wanted to lose weight for my wedding, which is in August 2027, and it's the only way that I've felt confident that I'll be able to get to my goal."

She described her confidence as "shattered" after gaining weight, which left her breathless when climbing stairs and reluctant to go out.

"Since I've lost weight, I'm seeing friends that I haven't seen in years. I'm actually going to the gym and having the confidence to go out in public," she added.

She said she had previously felt concerned about regaining weight once stopping the jabs, with reports suggesting it could happen four times faster than for those following traditional weight-loss methods.

But since embarking on a health coaching programme, she has gained confidence from speaking to others who have successfully weaned themselves off and gone on to maintenance doses.

The bride-to-be said she would like to lose more weight before stopping the jabs

The bride-to-be is now aiming to lose another six stone (38.1kg) before walking down the aisle, adding: "I'm quite confident with this jab that I can do it."

Her tattooist will be one of her bridesmaids, and had not been surprised about her spontaneous decision to be inked with the colourful GLP-1 design, encircled with a heart, she said.

"I'm getting lots of tattoos done ready for my wedding next year," Robinson explained.

"It's on my right arm near to my shoulder. It's gets a lot of comments and sparks a lot of conversations.

"A lot of people see it and then tell me their personal stories about losing weight."
