A road in Worcestershire has been partially closed following the collapse of a brick wall.

One lane on the A449 (Malvern Road) in Powick, near Worcester, has been temporarily closed following the collapse on Monday.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said it had "put safety measures in place" following the incident and that it would "continue to monitor the situation".

Ian Macleod, director of planning and infrastructure at Malvern Hills District Council, said the "deteriorating" wall had been reported in October but "unfortunately the wall collapsed before any work could be undertaken".

"We were contacted by Worcestershire Highways on 10 October 2025," he explained.

"South Worcestershire Building Control (SWBC) subsequently went to assess the site on 15 October and found the wall to be deteriorating.

"Following the visit, both the homeowner and SWBC were actively considering options for stabilisation but unfortunately the wall collapsed before any work could be undertaken."

The county council added the landowner had since appointed contractors, who had tidied the area.
