A building has collapsed and nearby properties evacuated as a precaution.

A man was helped to safety by firefighters but was not thought to be injured, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Three crews were despatched to Napier Road earlier on Friday with surrounding buildings on Dudley Road evacuated. Napier Road was closed.

West Midlands Fire Service said a full search of the building was carried out, with specialist equipment as well as a search and rescue dog, but no further casualties were found. A cause for the collapse has not been given but it was not thought to be weather related.
