An 86-year-old man was seriously injured when the car he was driving left a motorway and crashed into an embankment, police said.

Humberside Police said the single-vehicle incident occurred on the M180 in North Lincolnshire shortly before 10:30 GMT.

The man had been driving a white Mercedes between the Woodhouse Interchange, near Belton, and the Tudworth Interchange, near Thorne, when his vehicle left the carriageway, a spokesperson added.

Officers have appealed for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to get in touch via the force's 101 non-emergency number.
