Emergency services were called to a collision involving a black BMW X2 and a silver Mazda 2 on the A161 at Woodhouse, near Belton, North Lincolnshire, on Saturday at 10:50 GMT.

The BMW driver, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and driving while under the influence of drink and drugs, the force said.

A 33-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender. Both have since been released on conditional bail, the force added.
