Relatives of a 21-year-old man who died in a car crash have paid tribute to him, saying he "achieved the impossible against so many medical odds".

Joshua Thomas Hampson-Crofts, from March in Cambridgeshire, was a back-seat passenger in a BMW that crashed into a ditch near Whittlesey at about 08:45 GMT on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, on the A605 Wisbech Road near Coates, while the 53-year-old male driver and a 50-year-old woman were seriously injured.

The family of Mr Hampson-Crofts said he would be missed "as a son, stepson, loving brother, brother-in-law, uncle and a grandson".

"Joshua was such a fighter, who achieved the impossible against so many medical odds," the tribute continued.

"He was an amazing, smiling, cheeky and happy person, who gave happiness to those around him. Joshy will always be missed."

Cambridgeshire Police said no other vehicles were involved in the incident, and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
