Food waste recycling scheme launched after trial

Weekly food waste collections have been introduced across North East Lincolnshire.

It follows a pilot scheme involving more than 5,000 homes, with those taking part reporting that the collections were beneficial and giving their backing to making them permanent.

As well as improving recycling efforts, the initiative has provided jobs for residents, North East Lincolnshire Council.

Henry Hudson, the council's portfolio holder for the environment, said: "Everyone has a part to play in making sure that we limit the waste we produce, and reuse and recycle where we can."

Residents will receive indoor caddies and outdoor containers, with food waste being collected weekly by new vehicles.
