Police are appealing for information after an 89-year-old man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Brighton.

Sussex Police said the man was hit by a car on London Road, just south of the Carden Avenue mini roundabout, between 16:15-16:45 GMT on January 23.

The car did not stop at the scene, officers added.

Sussex Police said the man sustained "significant" injuries and remains in hospital.

The force said it was attempting to trace the vehicle and establish fully what happened.

It is appealing for witnesses to get in contact.
