Major disruption after people struck by trains

Rail passengers have faced major disruption after two people were struck by trains.

The emergency services were called to an incident between Luton and St Albans, and a separate incident between Haywards Heath and Gatwick Airport in West Sussex.

Services between Luton and London St Pancras International, and through Gatwick Airport, may be severely delayed, cancelled or revised, operator ThamesLink warned.

Also affected were East Midlands Railway, Gatwick Express, Great Western Railway and Southern services.

A bus replacement service was running between Corby in Northamptonshire and London St Pancras.

Also affected were services through Kettering, Market Harborough, Wellingborough and Northampton.

A ThamesLink spokesperson said the major disruption was expected to continue until 15:00 BST.
