Man appears in court over Haywards Heath pub death

A man has appeared in court accused of killing a man who died following an assault in a pub.

Christopher Iredale, 36, has been charged with the manslaughter of a 63-year-old who died after the attack at the Heath Tavern in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, just before 23:00 GMT on Monday.

The victim, who was known to Mr Iredale, died in hospital after being taken from the pub in Sussex Road in a serious condition. His next of kin have been informed.

Mr Iredale has appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court and was released on conditional bail. He is next due at Lewes Crown Court on 29 January.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said officers were still investigating and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
