Two men are in hospital after an assault outside a railway station in Surrey.

Surrey Police said it was called to Walnut Tree Close, near Guildford station, just before 04:00 GMT on Thursday.

The force said the men were being assessed in hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening.

A cordon remains in place outside the station with a "significant" police presence still in the area.

People are being encouraged to speak to the force at the scene if they have any concerns.

Police added that access to Guildford station was still available and trains should be stopping at the station as they normally do.
