We met making Jammie Dodgers and have been married for 25 years
Fox’s Burton's CompaniesWith its signature love heart design, perhaps the Jammie Dodger biscuit production line is the perfect place for romance to blossom.
While Wagon Wheels and Maryland Cookies are also made at the Fox's Burton's factory, neither of these biscuits were able to get Jenny Smith's own heart fluttering in quite the same way.
It was always the Jammie Dodger line she made a beeline for when doing her rounds, weighing products made at the site in Cwmbran, Torfaen.
And the love inspired by the iconic biscuit still endures, as she celebrates 25 years of marriage to Colin, the jammy colleague who caught her eye.
Family photo"I remember first seeing Colin around the factory," she recalls.
"My job at the time was to do weight checks on all the lines, and it was checking the Jammie Dodgers where we first met.
"We got on really well and I used to look forward to my chats with Colin, so much so that I used to time my weight checks to when I knew he was working on the line."
A massive 4.4 billion biscuits are made at the factory each year, but it is the love hearts on the 274 million Jammie Dodgers produced annually that really resonate with the couple.
Fox’s Burton's CompaniesJenny, 62, had started working at the Llantarnam factory in 1990, and Colin, 55, a year later.
Among the 700-strong workforce it took a while for the couple to catch each other's eyes, but once they did, there was no dodging the connection.
Their first date was at an Italian restaurant in Cardiff, and as well finding out more about each other, their favourite biscuit was never far from the chat.
"I can't remember the conversations, we probably chatted about work... or Jammie Dodgers," Jenny added.
Fox’s Burton's CompaniesThings moved pretty quickly, Jenny recalled, and within a couple of years the couple from Cwmbran were married, with two children following.
Despite living and working together for a quarter of a century, there's no sign of this romance crumbling.
"A happy wife, a happy life. Colin does as he's told," Jenny jokes.
"We've had a life full of mischief and laughter and that's all that counts."
While the couple no longer work on the same shift, she added: "It's great to be working in the same place that our love story began and making the same love-heart-shaped biscuits."
The factory's general manager Rebecca Phillips said it was a great reminder of how "the sweetest stories start in the most unexpected places".
"We never imagined that coming to work would lead us to finding each other," added Colin.
"The factory has been such a big part of our lives and our family story.
"I know a lot of couples probably wouldn't enjoy working together, but we love it."
