Measures to tackle car cruising and anti-social behaviour have been put in place at a tram stop in Nottinghamshire.

Broxtowe Borough Council has extended a public spaces protection order (PSPO) for Chilwell Retail Park to include the Toton Lane park and ride tram stop.

The order prohibits activities including revving engines, wheel spins, driving in convoy and playing loud music.

Anyone caught breaching the order can face a fine or prosecution, the council said.

Helen Faccio, councillor for Attenborough and Chilwell East, said problems with car cruising and anti-social behaviour at the tram stop were "well documented".

She added: "Residents living in Toton, near the tram car park, have been putting up with a lot of noise and a lot of anti-social behaviour from cars meeting on the tram car park for quite a few years.

"It goes on for a number of hours during the night, it's really disrupting people's lives."

Faccio said the new extended area went "all the way" from Stapleford Lane up to the Toton Lane tram stop.

"I think it's a really positive step to stop this disruption," she said.
