Police investigate antisemitic skate park graffiti
Luke MayPolice are investigating after antisemitic graffiti was sprayed at a skate park in Chilwell.
Nottinghamshire Police said it was contacted on Thursday after the message was daubed on a ramp at Inham Nook Recreation Ground.
It is believed to have happened at some point between 15:00 GMT on Tuesday and 13:00 on Thursday.
Broxtowe Borough Council said it arranged to clean the graffiti "shortly after being made aware of it", adding: "We are strong in our belief that Broxtowe is no place for hate and we will not tolerate this kind of vandalism."
'Exposed to hatred'
Amy, a mother of two who lives in the area, said she came across the graffiti while she was taking her kids to school on Thursday.
"It is not OK, especially in a playground where children walk to and from school," she said.
"There is enough hate in the world and after what has happened this week in Bondi [Beach in Sydney], it is so disrespectful and disgusting.
"It shocks me that young people can be exposed to hatred like that.
"There are little kids playing there, and it is horrible."
Ch Insp Riz Khan, from Nottinghamshire Police, confirmed the incident "is currently being investigated as a hate crime", and asked for any witnesses to come forward.
"This is a shocking incident that will understandably cause a great deal of distress to people living in our community," he said.
"What happened here is utterly unacceptable."
