Plans for a new Lidl have been submitted to Hull City Council

Plans have been submitted for a new Lidl in Hull.

It would be built on vacant land off Marfleet Lane which includes part of the former Fenner Dunlop factory site and a former cricket field.

A planning application to Hull City Council said the store would create about 40 full-time jobs and have a car park with 131 spaces.

The site could include a drive-thru coffee shop or restaurant as part of a wider development, it said.

Fenner Dunlop, which made conveyor belts, closed in 2023 when the company had to stop sales to Russia due to the Ukraine war.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the application is split into two parts, for the north and south of the site.

The Lidl would be built on the northern part of the site, accessed by a new access road off Marfleet Lane and is subject to a full planning application.

Plans for the southern part of the site include building several units including a drive-thru and demolition of part of the former Fenner Dunlop building.
