Jersey marks International Women's Day with run
Bex HarrisIslanders marked International Women's Day by putting on their trainers and hitting the road.
Women from St Helier's Rock N Road Runners and Jersey Girls Run took part in a 50 or 90-minute charity event in Jersey on Sunday morning, either walking or running.
International Women's Day, created in 1911, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
The Jersey run was held to raise money for the island's domestic abuse charity Freeda.
Freeda, formerly known as Jersey Women's Refuge, aims to protect and empower women and prevent domestic abuse in the island community.
Social secretary of Rock N Road Runners, Bex Harris, said about 40 runners and walkers took part.
Harris described the weather as "eerie". She said: "We were running through some country lanes in the fog, it was really lovely and a beautiful setting.
"It was really great to bring everybody together."
Not all of the runners were women, she said, because the groups wanted to focus on collaboration and community discussions.
