Man jailed for manslaughter over fatal punch
Thames Valley PoliceA man "prone to violent outbursts" has been jailed for manslaughter following the death of a 67-year-old man in Oxford last year.
Leszek Kaminski died after being punched in the face by Stanley Saxon in Speedwell Street, St Aldates on 19 July 2025.
During a hearing at Oxford Crown Court in January, Saxon pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter, as well as one count of gross bodily harm - in connection with a separate incident in 2021.
The 45-year-old, of no fixed address, was jailed for nine years and eight months for the offences during a sentencing hearing at the same court on Friday.
Police said Saxon hit Kaminski in the face in Speedwell Street - which is near to a large police station, as well as both of Oxford's court buildings - on 19 July 2025.
The punch caused Kaminski to fall to the floor and hit his head. He died in hospital the following day.
Saxon was arrested by police at the scene and charged on 21 July 2025.
'Violent outbursts'
In a separate incident on 27 April 2021, police said Saxon approached a man in Banbury town centre and punched him in the face, causing him to fall.
Saxon continued to punch his victim while he was on the ground, and stamped on his head. The victim survived the injuries.
Thames Valley Police Det Chf Insp Stuart Brangwin said Saxon was "clearly a man who is prone to violent outbursts".
"This case has presented a painful set of circumstances for all involved, with devastating and fatal consequences for Mr Kaminski," he added.
Paying tribute to Kaminski following Saxon's sentencing, the 67-year-old's family said it was "with great sadness" that they say "goodbye" to their "father, brother and uncle".
"His sudden violent passing has left us with disbelief that he is no longer with us," they said in a statement.
"Leszek will be missed a lot by family and friends."
