The family of a motorcyclist who was killed after colliding with a lorry in a layby has paid tribute to the "endlessly generous" stepfather.

Tantalus St John-Ives, 53, died after his Suzuki bike struck a Mercedes lorry parked up beside the A14 at 18:40 GMT on Wednesday.

Police said St John-Ives, from Wicken near Ely, Cambridgeshire, was pronounced dead at the scene on the eastbound carriageway, between junction 38 for the A11 and junction 39 for Kentford, Suffolk.

His family said he was a "loving and devoted stepfather and step-grandfather, a big brother and a friend to many".

In a statement, they added that "Tan was a kind, funny, and hard-working human being who had a huge heart and was endlessly generous with his time, affection, and love".

"He loved deeply and freely, and he will be missed by many. Ride free, Tan, we love you."
