A seawall that was previously damaged by severe weather has had a partial collapse after being battered by Storm Ingrid.

Photographer Steven Lomas took pictures of what appeared to be fresh damage along South Shields' South Pier at about 16:20 GMT on Saturday.

The pier's lighthouse was repaired in 2025, two years after Storm Babet ripped off its dome, with other work to the wall ongoing.

The Port of Tyne Authority has been contacted for comment.
