An uprooted tree has collapsed onto a property in Sheffield following strong winds.

A resident of a multi-occupancy property on Harcourt Road in Crookesmoor contacted emergency services shortly after 10:00 GMT after hearing a loud crack in the rear garden, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue service said.

A tree which had come down in the rear garden landed on top of the building. Two properties were evacuated and Harcourt Road was closed to traffic.

No one was hurt in the incident but there was some damage to the roof of the property and the chimney. Fire officers remain at the scene.
