Wiltshire in Pictures: Poppy power and Halloween

A royal visit has taken place in Wiltshire this week, as Queen Camilla enjoyed some poppy power in Corsham and a special gift in Bromham.

Elsewhere, Halloween has been celebrated across the county with some creative costumes, petrifying pumpkins and haunted houses.

Gourd-geous: Friday marked not only Halloween, but also World Lemur Day. At Longleat Safari Park, keepers found a way to celebrate both special days in one.

Spooktacular: Wiltshire has marked Halloween in style this week, with several suitably eerie events. In Warminster, Pumpkins in the Park on Wednesday saw a LED light-up dance show and pumpkin competitions.

Festival fun: Classic Ibiza at Bowood House will return to Wiltshire next July, with tickets on sale this week. Urban Soul Orchestra and DJ Goldierocks, pictured, are among the line-up for the event.

Great walk: Swindon care home manager Lisa Edwards has returned from a gruelling trek taking in the Great Wall of China to raise more than £6,000 in aid of Prospect Hospice who cared for her late sister, Lynsey. Lisa was part of a 22-strong team that took on the challenge, raising £73,000 for the Wroughton hospice.

Happy high street: BBC Radio Wiltshire's Karen Gardner visited Malmesbury to speak to shopkeepers like Jags Bhullar as, for the first time in five years, units on the high street are all occupied.

High fives: Queen Camilla made a special visit to Corsham this week to view the town's Poppy Project. She made time to meet some of her younger fans.

Golden days: Autumn is still holding on in Salisbury despite the clocks changing. Weather Watcher Amanda Norfolk caught this stunning picture on a walk through town.

Cathedral crosses: In the 20th year since its inauguration, six people from across the Diocese of Salisbury were awarded the Cross of St Aldhelm at a service in Salisbury Cathedral. The recipients were: Steve Abbott, Gary Hepburn, Jackie Molnar, Valerie Potter, Neil Skelton and Rosemary Tong.

Horsing around: BIG Highworth Community Foundation awarded £500 to the Armed Forces Equine Charity. The money will be used to purchase a new saddle for Billy (pictured) who is ridden by children with disabilities.

Tip-top topper: If you are wandering around Bradford on Avon, you might see the striking Tommy Atkins topper on Ed McKeever's gold post box in The Shambles.

The knitted soldier is set against a camouflage net decorated with more than 400 poppies and was created by the local Women's Institute.

Cybercrime capers: Former Wiltshire Police fraud officer Rachel Davies (centre right) joined the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust to help lead its Stay Safe Online team. Her appointment comes as cybercrime continues to surge in the county, accounting for almost one in every two crimes investigated by Wiltshire Police.
