A 13-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car in Grimsby, Humberside Police said.

Officers said a white Seat car collided with the teenager who was crossing Fairmont Road on a self-propelled scooter at about 18:00 GMT on Tuesday.

He was taken to hospital but died on Friday evening.

The force said an 18-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and attempting to pervert the course of justice. A 41-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Both men have been released under investigation.

Officers said they were trying to determine the full circumstances of the incident and appealed for any witnesses or people with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them.
